TICAD 7: the private sector of Burkina Faso led by the President of CCI-BF

The 7th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 7) was held in Yokohama (Japan) from 28 to 20 August 2019 under the theme: "Promoting Africa's Development through the People" , technology and innovation ".

Some 4,500 participants took part, including several African heads of state and private sector actors. The delegation of Burkinabè businessmen was led by Mr. Mahamadi SAVADOGO, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Burkina Faso (CCI-BF); they actively participated in the work of TICAD 7, including the panel on the elimination of gender-based violence and the session on public-private dialogue.

The major activity devoted to the private sector was the Africa-Japan Business Forum, which provided an opportunity to discuss the economic potential and business opportunities of the different participating countries. It is in this context that the Burkinabè Investment Agency (ABI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), under the chairmanship of Mr. Harouna Kaboré, Minister of Trade, Trade and Industry. Industry and Crafts of Burkina Faso. The protocol aims to promote the economic opportunities that the two countries abound, to encourage cooperation among businessmen in the area of ​​investment and to promote the transfer of technology.
In the margins of the proceedings, the Burkina Faso business delegation was received in audience by SEM. Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, President of Faso. During the discussions, the Head of State congratulated the private sector of Burkina Faso for its qualitative participation in this international conference. He also welcomed the regular participation of the private sector in the official missions he conducts abroad.

The President of CCI-BF welcomed the continued efforts of the President of Burkina Faso and the Government to strengthen economic and trade links between Burkina Faso and countries with high potential for opportunities. Through the voice of Mr. Lassiné Diawara, President of the Regional Consular Delegation of Hauts-Bassins, the delegation reassured the Head of State of the commitment of the private sector to continue investments despite the difficult security context. All are committed to working to strengthen and promote a resilient economy in Burkina Faso.
