Audience of the Consular Office to the Primature

On Monday, April 8, 2019, SEM. Christophe Joseph Marie DABIRE, Prime Minister, received in audience a delegation of the Consular Office of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Burkina Faso (CCI-BF), led by Mr. Mahamadi SAVADOGO, President of the Institution.

After congratulating the Prime Minister on his appointment as head of government, Mr. Lassiné DIAWARA, spokesman for the delegation, presented the situation of the private sector of Burkina Faso and its contribution to the national economy. "Burkina Faso's private sector contributes, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Demography, 70% in the formation of the Gross Domestic Product and employs more than one million non-agricultural people. It is a total of 94,390 formal enterprises that have achieved almost 20,000 billion CFA francs of turnover and nearly 660 billion CFA francs of private investment in 2018 ", said Mr. DIAWARA, President of the Delegation Regional Consular of Hauts-Bassins According to a study conducted by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Burkina Faso on the state of the private sector in 2018, it appears that 12,450 new companies were created during this period for about 124,623 formal jobs and 1,400 billion CFA francs in tax and customs revenue, indicating the important contribution of the private sector to wealth and job creation in Burkina Faso. "However, the business climate is not always calm, "said the spokesman who translated to PM the Prime Minister some complaints of the private sector which are among others Continuous improvement of the business climate, text-taking for the regulation of trade and industry in Burkina Faso. Following the re-establishment of diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China, the private sector has expressed the need for the government to adopt texts on strategic alliances for fair and healthy competition so that this opening is not a source of mortality for Burkinabè companies . This should be reflected, in part, by issuing certificates of origin that would allow Burkinabe economic operators to export "made in Burkina" products to the Chinese market.

The exchanges at the Primature also focused on the socio-economic situation marked during March-April, by the repeated strikes of certain unions of the civil service. These movements have seriously affected businesses. To all these grievances, the Prime Minister had a listening ear. After congratulating the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and through it, all the actors of the private sector of Burkina Faso for their remarkable contribution to the national economy, SEM. Christophe Marie Joseph DABIRE gave the assurance that the Government is working to offer better conditions to companies. On complex issues, he announced that periodic working sessions will be held between the Government and the private sector for further consideration of the concerns.
